ART FROM COLOMBIA: WAYUU COMMUNITY

The wayuu are an indegenous people that inhabit the guajira, bordering venezuela; this community with a matriarchal structure has adapted to the inclement weather of a desert located in front of the caribbean sea.

The women dedicate themselves to weaving hammocks or hammocks to sleep in, backpacks or handbags form women, and colored blankets that highlight wayuu beauty.

The backpacks are made in crochet or ganchillo, and the elaboration of each piece can take approximately 20 days.
